Empowering the Next Generation Through Food

Food is more than fuel — it’s culture, connection, and creativity. At 29 Dines, our Culinary Arts Education programs equip young learners with the skills and knowledge they need to grow, cook, and think critically about the food they eat.

We’re cultivating future chefs, conscious consumers, and health champions — one classroom at a time.

Food Literacy & Sustainability

This foundational module invites students to explore food beyond the plate. By examining how food is grown, sourced, and distributed, students develop an awareness of their role within a larger system — one that connects farms, families, environments, and cultures.

Garden-to-Table Exploration

Students engage in planting, harvesting, and tending to edible gardens (real or simulated), gaining an appreciation for seasonal, local food and environmental stewardship.

Composting & Food Waste Awareness

Lessons on composting, food waste reduction, and circular economies reinforce sustainability concepts in everyday life.

Food Systems Mapping

Explore the journey food takes from soil to shelf, including conversations around equity, food deserts, and cultural accessibility.

Cultural Food Journeys

Students examine how food reflects identity, family heritage, and migration — fostering respect for diversity and shared traditions.

Culinary Skills & Nutrition Education

This skills-based module empowers students to take agency in the kitchen. Through hands-on lessons, they learn safe cooking techniques, foundational nutrition science, and the joy of preparing balanced, beautiful meals — even on a budget.

Culinary Basics for All Ages

Introduces age-appropriate cooking techniques such as measuring, mixing, sautéing, and plating — all within a safe, structured environment.

Nutrition Science & Meal Design

Students learn to build meals that are colorful, nutritious, and balanced using the USDA MyPlate framework and other visual tools.

Culinary Creativity & Teamwork

Lessons integrate project-based learning with art, math, and storytelling. From smoothie experiments to cultural recipe swaps, students practice creativity, planning, and communication.

Healthy Habits at Home

Students take home recipe cards, reflection journals, and meal challenge prompts that encourage family engagement and behavior change beyond the classroom.
